The Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is searching for an in-house full-time Canonist. This person will be responsible primarily for serving as either a Judge or Defender of the Bond in matrimonial cases. He or she will assume responsibilities in other areas of canon law as appropriate and directed. The successful candidate will work with the Judicial Vicar as well as the director of the Tribunal.


The qualified candidate will be an active, practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church and possess at least a licentiate in canon law (J.C.L.). The candidate must have a comprehensive mastery of canon law, especially, current jurisprudence. In addition, he or she must have excellent writing skills and command of the English language. Fluency in Spanish and/or Vietnamese would be an advantage. Previous tribunal experience is preferred but not mandatory.
