It is with great pleasure that the Alaska Tribunals of Fairbanks, Juneau and Anchorage host the 2015 Northwest Regional Conference of the Canon Law Society of America. The regional meeting will be held at The Hotel Alyeska in Girdwood, Alaska, Tuesday, April 21 –Thursday, April 23, 2015.
Since the gathering of Canonists and Chancery Officials in the Northwest initially began in 1943, this is the first conference hosted by all three Alaska Tribunals. The focus for this conference is practical and pastoral approaches to canon law.
Dr. Lynda Robitaille, Canonical Consultant, member of the CLSA and The Canadian Canon Law Society as well as Dean of Academic Programs, Saint Mark’s College, Vancouver, will speak on “Alternatives to Canon 1095,2” and “Rediscovering Traditional Grounds.”
Mr. Thomas Roach, JCD MIA, a practicing Immigration Attorney for over 30 years, will present on "Civil Immigration Law and its implications to individuals" and Ms. Kathleen Hahn, JCL, Chancellor of the Diocese of Grand Island and Marriage Tribunal Advocate, will present on "Weighing One's Rights to the Sacraments, particularly marriage, against the civil laws that might impede that access."
