The Faculty of Canon Law of Saint Paul University, Ottawa, announces a Seminar on Selected Issues on Church Property. It will address the following topics:

  • An Overview of Book V: The Temporal Goods of the Church
  • Particular Laws on Church Property (Issued by the Conferences of Bishops and by Diocesan Bishops)
  • Legal Drafting of Documents Related to Church Property (e.g., statutes for juridic persons, finance councils, permissions for acts of extraordinary administration and for alienation, the designation of stable patrimony, etc.)
  • The Parochus as the Administrator of Parish Property: Rights and Responsibilities
  • The Content of Parish Statutes
  • Penal Law and Financial Malfeasance
This seminar is intended for those practicing common law or civil law and those who hold leadership positions in the Church in chanceries, tribunals, religious orders, and other ecclesiastical institutes in Canada, the United States, and beyond. It is especially designed to assist diocesan bishops, vicars general, vicars for administration/finances, chancellors, finance officers, members of diocesan finance councils, financial advisers, investment managers, property managers, diocesan attorney, vicars for clergy, planning consultants, pastors and parish staff.

The cost is $600 CAD/USD (includes GST) per participant; a $50 CAD/USD non-refundable fee should accompany registration.
