CLSA Member Named Vatican's Abuse Investigator

Pope Benedict XVI has named Father Robert W. Oliver, a canon lawyer from the Archdiocese of Boston, as the new promoter of justice in the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. The Vatican announced this appointment on December 22, 2012.

Fr. Oliver currently serves as an assistant to the moderator for canonical affairs of the Boston Archdiocese. He is also a visiting professor of canon law at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.

Fr. Oliver has been a member of the CLSA since 1999 and has served on the Research and Development Committee from 2009 to the present. He has given presentations at the 2003 and 2008 conventions, and he led a pre-convention workshop in 2009.
