Father Kevin Seasoltz, OSB, passed away on April 27, 2013 at the retirement center of St. John's Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota.
Father Kevin, born Robert Joseph Seasoltz, hailed from Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He completed
his licentiate in sacred theology in 1956 at The Catholic University of
America, with a concentration in liturgical studies.
That same year, he was ordained a priest of the Diocese of
Altoona-Johnstown. He would later be drawn to the monastic life, entering St. Anselm's Abbey and making his final profession in 1963.
Father Kevin's interest in liturgical studies led him to
Rome, where, at the Lateran University, he earned a licentiate in canon law (with
specialization in liturgical law) in 1958. A member since 1985, Father Kevin received his JCD from Catholic
University in 1962. He then joined the faculty of the School of Religious Studies and was awarded tenure in 1969.

The monks, family, and friends will celebrate the Mass of
Christian Burial for Father Kevin on May 2, 3:30 p.m., in Saint John's
