Father Kevin Seasoltz, OSB, passed away on April 27,  2013 at the retirement center of St. John's Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota.

Father Kevin, born Robert Joseph Seasoltz, hailed from Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He completed his licentiate in sacred theology in 1956 at The Catholic University of America, with a concentration in liturgical studies. That same year, he was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. He would later be drawn to the monastic life, entering St. Anselm's Abbey and making his final profession in 1963.

Father Kevin's interest in liturgical studies led him to Rome, where, at the Lateran University, he earned a licentiate in canon law (with specialization in liturgical law) in 1958. A member since 1985, Father Kevin received his JCD from Catholic University in 1962. He then joined the faculty of the School of Religious Studies and was awarded tenure in 1969.

More information about Father Kevin's life and prolific work can be found on St. John's Abbey website.

The monks, family, and friends will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial for Father Kevin on May 2, 3:30 p.m., in Saint John's Abbey Church.

Please remember Father Kevin, his community, and his family in your prayers. May he rest in peace.
