Member Named Bishop of Harrisburg

Pope Francis has named Bishop Ronald W. Gainer of the Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky, bishop of the Diocese of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Bishop Gainer has been a member of the CLSA since 1995. Ordained a priest of the Diocese of Allentown in 1973, he earned his licentiate degree in 1986 from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was named second bishop of Lexington on December 13, 2002, and ordained a bishop on February 22, 2003. He succeeds the late Bishop Joseph P. McFadden in Harrisburg.

The appointments were publicized in Washington, January 24, by Archbishop Carlo Maria ViganĂ², apostolic nuncio to the United States.
