Peter M. Shannon Jr., 85, of Western Springs, IL, died peacefully on April 21.
Mr. Shannon earned a degree in canon law from the Gregorian Institute in Rome in 1958. Upon return to Chicago, he worded as a chief judge in the Marriage Tribunal of Chicago. In 1972, he earned a law degree from Boalt Hall Law School at the University of California at Berkeley. Moving to Washington, he became a litigation attorney in the Criminal Appellate Section of the U.S. Department of Justice. Later, he moved to Chicago and began work as a partner of several different law firms. A long-time member of the Canon Law Society, Mr. Shannon served as president of the Canon Law Society in 1964.
Mr. Peter Shannon was laid to rest on Friday, April 25, 2014, 9:45 a.m., at St. John of the Cross Church in Western Springs, IL. In lieu of flowers, he requested that donations be made to the Center For Independence Through Conductive Education or Aspire of Illinois.
