The Holy Father has named Reverend Edward C. Malesic as bishop-elect of Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
A member of the Canon Law Society of America since 1996, Malesic was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and was ordained a priest in 1987. He holds a licentiate in canon law from The Catholic University of America, Washington D.C., and has served in a number of pastoral roles in the diocese of Harrisburg, including deputy priest, chaplain of the York College and the Millersville University; auditor; defender of the bond and canonical consultor of the ecclesiastical tribunal; and adjunct judicial vicar. He currently serves Holy Infant Parish in York Haven, and he is the judicial vicar of the Diocese of Harrisburg.
Bishop-elect Malesic succeeds Bishop Lawrence E. Brandt as the fifth bishop of Greensburg. His ordination is scheduled for July 13, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg.
