Reverend Monsignor Robert Bourgon, a priest of the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, has been named Bishop of Hearst and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Moosonee (Ontario, Canada). He succeeds Bishop Vincent Cadieux, whose resignation was accepted by the Holy Father when Bishop Cadieux reached retirement age.

A member of the Canon Law Society of America since 1985, Bishop-elect Bourgon was ordained a priest in 1981. He earned his licentiate in canon law from Saint Paul University in 1985 and his doctoral degree in 1998, and he has held numerous pastoral and administrative positions, including diocesan chancellor, judicial vicar, and judge of the ecclesiastical tribunal. He currently serves as the vicar general for the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie.

Please join the Society in extending warm congratulations to Bishop-elect Bourgon, and prayers for his new ministry!
