Reverend Archimadrite Herbert J. May, Jr., passed into eternal rest on May 9, 2016. A priest of the Diocese of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and a member of the Canon Law Society of America since 1982, Father May earned his licentiate from The Catholic University of America in 1983. He served as Judicial Vicar for the Diocese of Lake Charles from 1987 to 1994, and as Promoter of Justice from 2005 to 2016. A regular convention attendee, Father May was a Consultor on the CLSA Board of Governors from 1988 to 1991, and during this time, acted as a press liaison on behalf of the Society.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 935 Bilbo Street, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. Scripture Service officiated by Reverend Carlos Garcia. Visitation continues on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 3:00 p.m. Bishop Glen John Provost will celebrate the liturgy with concelebrants Reverend Monsignor Daniel Torres, and Very Reverend Aubrey Guilbeau. Committal will follow in Graceland Cemetery on Broad Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Seminarian Education Fund or Priest Retirement Fund of the Diocese of Lake Charles.
