Sister Esther Redmann, OSU

Sister Esther Redmann, OSU, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at the age of 83.  A native of New Orleans, Sister Esther entered the Ursuline Order in Crystal City, MO in January, 1947 professing her first vows in July, 1949. In addition to a BA from Ursuline College, N.O., she earned a MEd from Loyola, N.O., and JCL from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas in Rome, Italy. Sister's teaching career was spent in Louisiana, Texas, and Illinois. She taught at and was high school principal of Ursuline Academy, N.O. She served in various leadership roles in the Ursuline Order, including a term as Prioress of the New Orleans community. Most recently she has been a judge on the Metropolitan Tribunal for the Archdiocese of N.O and was a member of the CLSA.

 Visitation will be at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, 2701 State Street, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at which time the Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will follow in the Ursuline Sisters Mausoleum.

 In lieu of flowers, donations to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor or Ursuline Academy preferred. Arrangements by Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home. Guest book may be signed on line at www.schoencanalstreet.com.
