Pope Names CLSA Member Auxilary Bishop

Pope Benedict XVI has named Msgr. Michael Fitzgerald, 62, Judicial Vicar of the
Metropolitan Tribunal of Philadelphia, as an auxiliary bishop of
Philadelphia.
Michael Fitzgerald was ordained a priest for the Philadelphia Archdiocese in 1980, and earned a Licentiate in Canon Law from The
Catholic University of America in 1989, and a doctorate in Canon Law
from the Gregorian University, Rome, in 1991. He was
director of the Office for Legal Services, 1991-2004, and in 2007 was named
judicial vicar. Bishop-elect Fitzgerald has been an active member of the Canon Law Society of America since 1983.
