Rev. James J. Shiffer,
SSC, 70, passed away on July 30, 2010 after a long illness. Fr. Shiffer was ordained
in 1965, at St. Columban's Major Seminary, Milton, Ohio and was
appointed to Fiji January 1967.
Fr. Shiffer worked as a canonist
for CEPAC (Bishop's Conference of the Pacific) and in the marriage
Tribunal, and returned to the States to study Canon Law at Catholic
University of America, receiving his licentiate in 1989. Fr. Shiffer most recently worked in the Marriage Tribunal in Los Angeles. Fr. Shiffer has been a member of the Society since 1989.
