New Assignment for Bishop Conlon

Pope Benedict XVI has named Bishop R. Daniel Conlon of Steubenville, Ohio, 62, as Bishop of Joliet, Illinois. The appointment was publicized in Washington, May 17, by Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States.

Bishop Conlon was born in Cincinnati, OH, and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati in 1977. He earned doctorates in canon law and philosophy from the University of St. Paul, Ottawa and has been an Active member of the Society since 1985. He was named bishop of Steubenville in 2002.
