St. Paul's University Offers Graduate Diploma in Canon Law

The Faculty of Canon Law of Saint Paul University, Ottawa, is offering a Graduate Diploma in Canon Law with a concentration in Church Governance during the academic year 2011-2012.

The diploma consists in 15 credits of courses, nine on-line (General Norms, Universal and Supradiocesan Structures, and Particular Churches: two in the fall session, one in the winter session) and six on campus (Temporal Goods and Penal Law: March 12-24, 2012). These credits are transferrable for those who may wish to pursue the JCL.
The diploma is especially intended for those practicing common law or civil law and those who hold leadership positions in the Church in chanceries, tribunals, religious orders, and other ecclesiastical institutes in Canada, the United States, and beyond. It is designed to assist diocesan bishops, vicars general, vicars for administration/ finances, chancellors, finance officers, members of diocesan finance councils, tribunal personnel, diocesan attorneys, vicars for clergy, planning consultants, pastors and parish staff. Dioceses are faced with enormous challenges, in response to which Church leaders must ensure good governance, clear decision-making, and appropriate accountability. This Graduate Diploma intends to assure conformity with canonical discipline in addressing these challenges.
